This book worked itself up nicely, hooking my interest from cover to cover. It's just such a shame I found the ending rather flat, cut short and disappointing.

The Dream Hunter review

This Dark Hunter novel follows Arikos a Dream Hunter Skotos who becomes obsessed with a human in her dreams, so much so that he makes a deal with Hades to become human for two weeks. He wants to be with this woman Megeara, as a human instead of a God, with human emotions, something that up until then has been alien to him. But bargaining with a God, especially one like Hades comes with a price. The price being Megeara's life and probably his own too.

As much as Megeara finds Arik attractive, her attention is on finding the lost city of Atlantis. In order to win her over Arik does everything he can to help her, but there are many other Gods that do not want Altantis found. For many years Apollomi, The Destroyer has been imprisoned in Kalosis, but all it would take is for someone to break the seal of Atlantis and she would be free. The Gods are willing to do anything to keep Apollomi in her prison, including killing those who get to close to the seal.

I loved getting to know more about the Dream Hunter world through this book and also seeing a different side to Apollomi. She may be The Destroyer, but now I can understand a bit more why Katra serves both Apollomi and Artemis

Publishing a Blog with Blogger: Visual QuickProject Guide review

Overall this is a great introduction to blogger with step by step instructions on creating an account, customizing a blog and adding content. There's a very helpful section that explains the template tags too, so you can really get stuck into modifying your blog to your own needs and taste. The only down side is that blogger has changed slightly since this book was published so many of the picture examples won't match what you see on the screen. But unless you really are alien to html and the world of blogging, you should still find this book helpful regardless.

Looking Good Dead review

Looking Good Dead is the second book of The Roy Grace series written by Peter James. Having read and enjoyed the first book, Dead Simple a few months ago I was definitely looking forward to reading this installment too. My preferred reading genre is Horror, so reading a crime novel, especially one that follows the life and job of a Detective Superintendent was something a little different for me.

This particular book also follows Tom Bryce, who finds a cd left on a train by the passenger who had sat next to him. He fully intended to hand it in, but curiosity got the better of him and he decided to check out it's contents first. He could not believe what he saw. A vicious murder to a pretty young girl on what looked like a private website that the cd had allowed him to gain access to. At first he thought it was unreal, just a movie made by actors, but pretty soon when this poor girl's picture was all over the tabloids he realised the truth. The right thing to do, would be to report it to the police, but the owners of the website had contacted him with a death threat, not only for his own life, but the life of his wife and children too. He had accessed a website that he wasn't supposed to, now he had to pay the consequences.

If you are a fan of crime novels then I would recommend you giving this one a go. This isn't the last of Roy Grace either. The third book, Not Dead Enough has recently been released and only today I spotted it on the bookshelves. It's definitely on my future reading list!

Imagine knowing that on your 27th Birthday you will die, way before you've even experienced many things in life. Then a few months before not only do you fall in love with someone whose job it is to hunt your kind, but also discover that you are pregnant by him.

This Dark Hunter novel follows Wulf, an ancient viking Dark-Hunter, Cassandra an Apollite who is in the last year of her life and the struggle they have not only with the forbidden love between the two of them, but also with Stryker who wants to end the lineage of Apollo.

The Travelling Vampire Show review

If you were to visit a travelling vampire show you would expect the vampire to be one of great beauty, especially if it were advertised as ‘Valeria, gorgeous, beguiling, and lethal.’ But to find the actual vampire to be something quite grotesque is a bit of a shock.

Valeria had just been the 'in show' entertainment, a way of finding a meal or two for the real vampire. Volunteers were asked to fight Valeria in her cage for 5 minutes, after which they would receive a sum of money. However, none of them lasted 5 minutes. Guys go all goo goo when the see her beauty, which then make them easy prey. Once she had drawn blood, they are taken away to the awaiting ambulance, or so they think because the ambulance doesn't really exist. The bodies are piled into a hearse instead, a hearse that contained the real vampire, hungrily waiting to be fed.

As a big fan of Richard Laymon I was a little disappointed in this one, however I do admire his courage to kill off one of the main characters in this book.

Night Play (Dark Hunter 8) review

Imagine being dumped by a guy that really didn’t appreciate you for who you were and then meeting the absolute perfect guy all in one day. This guy is everything you could possibly dream of wanting. He has a perfect body, he is completely loaded with cash and he looks at you like you are the only woman alive. He is so perfect in every way, that he seems well and truly too good to be true.

Mr Perfect does indeed have a flaw; he’s not completely human. He is part human, part wolf and he has the ability to change from one to the other. As well as that he has an unbelievable magical ability in which he can do practically anything include travel through time. Another problem is that he is also hunted by many other un-human creatures.

Fate has decided that you are Mr Perfect’s future mate. You are attracted to him in every way, but the big question is - can you deal with him being part wolf and having endless creatures trying to kill the both of you?

This was the first book of Sherrilyn Kenyon's that I ever read and it left me wanting more. Thankfully, there are many more out there and being a reader of her blog, I know there are many more on the way :))

Lightning review

Imagine walking in on a scene, where a woman lay paralysed after being shot in the spine and then you see her only child shot down and killed right in front of her. Imagine too that she was someone you loved and cared about. How crushing that would be to watch. However, it didn’t have to end like this because you were in possession of a device that could take you back to your own time, 1944, where the world was at war for a second time. You would then be able to take steps to alter the future you had seen, so when you returned once more the woman and the boy would be alive.

Out of all the Dean Koontz books that I have read, this was one of the best. I do love a good time travel novel, but the scary thing about this one is that it involved Hilter!

Sins of the Night review

In this particular Dark Hunter novel Alexion is sent down amongst the humans to be judge, jury and executioner to all and any Dark Hunters that have turned against Acheron. Yet again Stryker is behind the scenes, this time trying to turn the Dark Hunters against Acheron. One such Dark Hunter happens to be one of Alexion's oldest friends. This makes Alexion's job that much harder and he decides to give his friend a chance to come around. Of course, no Dark Hunter novel would be complete without love and this comes from a female Dark Hunter called Danger. Alexion's time in the human world is short and Danger will have her memory erased when he leaves. It's an impossible situation. But neither one of them can stop the feelings that build inside.

The Sacred Circle Tarot: A Celtic Pagan Journey review

When I first saw this deck in my usual bookstore I was immediately drawn to it, but cringed at the price. I had never before spent that much on a tarot pack. However, I found myself unable to leave the shop without it. To my delight, it was worth the money.

This traditional 78 card tarot deck draws on the Pagan heritage of Britain and Ireland, its sacred sites and symbolic imagery from the tradition. The images that appear on the cards are beautiful and I've uploaded a few samples for those interested.

The accompanying book is the best that I've ever received with any of my tarot packs. The 322 pages give in depth meanings to each card in the upright and reversed position, as well as explaining the symbolism for each card. There are also a few card spreads illustrated, some which were new to me even though I have over 15 years of tarot reading experience.

This now has become my main pack for giving general on demand tarot readings. The cards are a little bigger than the average tarot pack which can make large spreads tricky, but as long as you have a big table to read on they are well worth purchasing.
